arch4’s environmental policies are evaluated based on their supply chains and their impact on the planet. The brand has been rated as “It’s a Start” by our “Planet” rating. While arch4’s products are certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) for using organic cotton, there is no evidence that they minimize textile waste in their supply chain. Additionally, there is no evidence of meaningful action being taken to reduce their climate impacts. Another area where arch4 has room for improvement is in minimizing packaging, as it is a driver of plastic waste.
At arch4, workers’ rights are given priority and are evaluated under our “People” rating. The brand has been rated as “It’s a Start” in this category. While much of their supply chain is certified by GOTS for organic cotton, there is no evidence of a Code of Conduct being in place. Furthermore, there is no evidence that arch4 ensures workers are paid living wages in their supply chain. These factors contribute to the rating given in this category.
arch4’s animal welfare policies are mainly assessed based on their use of animal-derived products and how well they trace these products. The brand has been rated as “Good” in our “Animals” rating. While arch4 has published a general statement about minimizing animal suffering, a formal animal welfare policy is not evident. It also appears that they use exotic animal hair in some of their products. However, arch4 does not use leather, wool, down, fur, angora, or exotic animal skin, which positively affects their rating in this category.
Based on all the publicly available information we have reviewed, arch4 has been rated as “It’s a Start” overall. While they have achieved certain certifications, such as GOTS for organic cotton, there is still room for improvement in their environmental policies, workers’ rights, and animal welfare practices. Taking further action in these areas will contribute to a higher overall rating for arch4.
