When it comes to evaluating a brand’s environmental impact, our “Planet” rating takes into consideration various factors in their supply chains. Unfortunately, for eleven44, the rating is “Not Good Enough”. While the brand does use some lower-impact materials such as organic cotton, there is no evidence of it minimizing textile waste in its supply chain. Additionally, there is no meaningful action taken to reduce water use, which is a concerning issue considering the world’s limited water resources.
Another area in which eleven44 falls short is in its packaging. There is no evidence that the brand takes any action to minimize its packaging, which contributes to the problem of plastic waste. With the growing concern over plastic pollution and its impact on the environment, it is disappointing to see that eleven44 does not address this issue adequately.
At Best Blog About Sustainability, we believe that workers’ rights are a critical aspect to consider when evaluating a brand. Our “People” rating assesses brands on various factors, including their policies and practices related to child labor, living wages, and gender equality. Unfortunately, eleven44 is rated “Not Good Enough” in this regard.
One of the concerning factors influencing its score is the sourcing of its final production stage from countries with extreme risk of labor abuse. While the brand does partly trace its supply chain, including the final production stage, there is no evidence of a Code of Conduct. However, it does have a formal statement that covers workers’ rights, but it is unclear if living wages are ensured in the supply chain.
When evaluating brands’ animal welfare policies, our focus is on how well they trace their animal-derived products and if they utilize cruelty-free materials. In the case of eleven44, the rating is “Good”. While the brand doesn’t appear to use animal-derived materials, it doesn’t explicitly claim to be a vegan brand either.
Based on all the publicly available information that we’ve reviewed, we rate eleven44 as “It’s a Start” overall. While there are areas where the brand needs to improve, such as its environmental policies and workers’ rights, it is commendable that the brand is taking some steps in the right direction, such as using lower-impact materials and addressing animal welfare.
As a blog dedicated to sustainability, we encourage brands like eleven44 to continue making efforts to improve their practices. By adopting more sustainable strategies, such as minimizing waste, reducing water consumption, and ensuring fair labor practices, brands can make a positive impact on the environment, workers, and animals.
