While Tread & Butter may not have achieved the highest ratings in environmental and labor practices just yet, we are dedicated to continuous improvement and making a positive impact on the world around us. Environment: A Work in Progress
At Tread & Butter, we understand the importance of protecting our planet. While our current environment rating is not where we want it to be, we are actively working to change that. One area of focus for us is textile waste reduction. We believe in the power of recycling and upcycling, and we are investing in research and development to find innovative ways to minimize textile waste throughout our supply chain.
Packaging is another area where we are committed to making a positive change. While we haven’t reached our desired goal just yet, we are actively seeking out sustainable packaging solutions. Our aim is to reduce waste and minimize our environmental impact without compromising on the quality and protection of our products.
One aspect in which we excel is local manufacturing. By producing our goods locally, we aim to reduce our carbon footprint by minimizing transportation emissions. It is our priority to support local economies while also doing our part to combat climate change. We believe that every small step towards sustainability makes a difference.
Hazardous chemicals are a concern for us, and we are taking this matter seriously. We are actively researching and implementing alternatives to eliminate or reduce the use of hazardous chemicals in our production processes. Our goal is to create products that are safe for both the environment and our customers.
Labor Practices: Upholding Workers’ Rights
While our labor rating may not be perfect, we are committed to improving the standards within our supply chain. Portugal, where our final stage of production takes place, is considered a medium-risk country for labor abuse. However, we are vigilant in ensuring that all workers involved in the manufacturing process are treated with fairness and respect.
While we may not have a documented Code of Conduct at this time, we hold ourselves and our suppliers to high ethical standards. It is our belief that every worker in our supply chain should be treated fairly and paid a living wage. We are actively working on developing a comprehensive Code of Conduct that will outline our expectations for all partners and suppliers.
Ensuring fair wages and working conditions throughout our supply chain is a priority for us. While we do not currently conduct audits of our suppliers, we are actively exploring opportunities to partner with third-party organizations to ensure transparency and accountability in our practices.
Caring for our Animal Friends
At Tread & Butter, we are proud to say that we do not use any animal products in our manufacturing processes. We believe in cruelty-free fashion and are dedicated to creating products that are both sustainable and animal-friendly. Although we are not explicitly labeled as a vegan brand, we are committed to transparency and will continue to provide clear information about our materials and manufacturing processes.
