At Jenny Yoo, we believe in the importance of sustainability and taking care of our planet. We prioritize environmental policies in our supply chain to ensure that we are doing our part to reduce our impact on the planet. However, our current rating on the sustainability scale is “Not Good Enough.”

Environmental Impact

One of the factors influencing our score is the lack of evidence that we use lower-impact materials in our products. We understand the importance of using environmentally-friendly materials, and we are actively working towards incorporating them into our designs. Additionally, we have not taken meaningful action to reduce water use in our manufacturing processes. We recognize the significance of conserving water resources and are implementing strategies to minimize our water consumption.

Furthermore, we have not taken meaningful action to reduce or eliminate hazardous chemicals in our manufacturing processes. We understand the risks that these chemicals pose to both the environment and the workers involved in the production. We are committed to finding safer alternatives and implementing safer practices to ensure the well-being of both our planet and our workers.

On a positive note, we do have a system in place to minimize waste. We make it a point to reuse all of our textile offcuts to minimize the amount of waste generated. This helps us reduce our environmental footprint and contributes to a more sustainable fashion industry.

Workers’ Rights

At Jenny Yoo, we understand the importance of workers’ rights and ensuring fair and ethical practices throughout our supply chain. Our rating on the “People” scale is “It’s a Start.” We have made progress in some areas, but there is still work to be done.

One positive factor influencing our score is that our entire final production stage is certified by the Workplace Condition Assessment (WCA). This certification ensures that our workers are provided with safe and fair working conditions. Additionally, we trace our supply chain, including all of the final production stage. This transparency allows us to address any potential issues and work towards improving the conditions for our workers.

However, there is no evidence of a Code of Conduct in place. We understand the importance of having clear guidelines and standards to ensure the fair treatment of workers. We are actively working on implementing a comprehensive Code of Conduct to address this gap in our practices.

Another area where we need improvement is ensuring that workers in our supply chain are paid living wages. We recognize the importance of fair wages for a dignified living and are working towards implementing systems to guarantee that workers are appropriately compensated for their labor.

Animal Welfare

Animal welfare is another aspect that we consider in our sustainability efforts. Our rating on the “Animals” scale is “Good.” We make conscious choices to ensure that our products do not harm animals or support unethical practices.

While we do use silk, a material derived from animals, we do not use other animal-derived materials such as leather, wool, down, fur, angora, exotic animal skin, or exotic animal hair. We are committed to cruelty-free fashion and do not believe in exploiting animals for our designs.

Overall Sustainability Rating

Based on the information available, our overall sustainability rating is “It’s a Start.” We acknowledge that there is room for improvement in various aspects of our business to become more sustainable. We are dedicated to making positive changes and taking concrete actions to protect our planet, ensure fair treatment of workers, and uphold animal welfare standards. We believe in continuous improvement and are committed to becoming a leader in sustainability in the fashion industry.
